Breathe Your Way to Coherent Calm

You are standing in line at the grocery store and running late. The person two customers in front of you decides to pay for their $37.00 bill with pennies, and you’re already running late. The woman in front of you answers a phone call on speaker.

Deep inside you want to scream. What do you do? Heart Focused Breathing.

Heart Focused Breathing

Heart focused breathing allows you to shift from a state of anxiety to one of calm in just a few breaths. How does it work? Heart focused breathing puts you into coherence; the place where your head and your heart are on the same page. As a result, you feel better. You feel better because you ARE better. Coherence improves heart rate variability (HRV), a marker of good health.

The modern world of constant input from technology, stress in the environment (have you checked the heat index lately), lack of outdoor exercise time, and highly processed food impacts us all, so we need tools to help us fight back. This is where Heart Focused Breathing, Quick Coherence, Freeze Frame, and the other HeartMath® techniques come into play.

HeartMath® Coaching at MyHealth1st

At MyHealth1st, we are certified in the HeartMath® techniques and can provide you with electronic biofeedback sensors to measure your progress, so you are ready to win the war on stress!

Our series of HeartMath® coaching sessions walk you through the various techniques, describes the science behind how they work, and provides you with ample opportunity to practice your newfound skills. We offer one-on-one sessions via Zoom. This allows you to practice the techniques from the comfort of your home, no matter what city or state you live in!

One of my favorite things about HeartMath® is that you can do it anywhere and no one will ever know. The app and sensor, help you gauge your progress and assist you with improving your skills, but the real power is being able to use the techniques in the moment – the very time when you need them most.

I practice while driving down the road, waiting at a stop light, standing in line, and even while cooking. The more you practice, the better you get and the more natural the techniques become. The techniques are used to combat stress but can also be used to improve performance. Athletes and professional teams use the techniques to improve recovery and enhance training as well as execution in their individual sports.

Let us show you how you can take your health or your athletic performance to the next level with HeartMath® Coaching in Winston-Salem, NC. Sessions are open to all, even those who are not established patients at our clinic!

Contact us for more information and be on the lookout for future blog posts discussing HRV and its impact on performance, recovery, and overall health.
