We’re welcoming a new team member at MyHealth1st — Amelia Carnohan, Family Nurse Practitioner, who will begin seeing patients in November at our Winston-Salem clinic.
Amelia brings over a decade of nursing experience and a passion for helping people move from reactive care to proactive, long-term wellness.
Before joining MyHealth1st, Amelia worked in both traditional and integrative medicine settings. At a large integrative clinic in Bethesda, MD, she gained advanced training in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) and pellet therapy. She also has experience in joint injections and pain management, and we’re thrilled to expand our regenerative medicine services under her care — including peptide injections like BPC-157 and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) therapy.
Her background, combined with her natural curiosity and love for learning, makes her an incredible fit for our holistic, patient-first approach. Amelia shares our belief that medicine should empower people, helping them not only feel better but also understand their health at a deeper level.
Q&A with Amelia
What inspired you to become a Nurse Practitioner?
“I’ve worked in healthcare since I graduated high school, so helping others has always been a part of my life. I was inspired to become a nurse practitioner to broaden my knowledge base and be able to help people on a deeper level.”
What drew you to integrative and functional medicine?
“I love that integrative and functional medicine looks beyond symptom management to uncover the root causes of illness. It allows me to truly partner with my patients to help them feel their best and stay well.”
What excites you most about joining MyHealth1st?
“I’m thrilled to join the team with MyHealth1st, which values listening to patients and guiding them toward lasting wellness. I’m also looking forward to continuing my own learning and collaborating with others who share the same passion for helping people thrive.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“I am a new mom to the sweetest six-month-old baby boy, so right now most of my time outside of work is focused on spending time with him and my husband. However, I also love to travel, cook, and enjoy outdoor activities like hiking.”
What’s your favorite way to recharge?
“To recharge these days, I like taking my son for a walk outside with my weighted vest on. The combination of sunlight and getting in some exercise helps me to feel accomplished and is a great reset!”
What’s a book, podcast, or movie you’ve loved recently?
“One podcast that I have recently been enjoying is The DUTCH Podcast. It has relatively short episodes focused on hormone health that are great for learning while on the go.”
Is there a hobby, passion, or fun fact about you that might surprise people?
“A hobby that I’ve recently started is organic gardening. Growing up, my grandfather had the most beautiful vegetable garden and it made summers with home-grown veggies extra special. However, I have come to realize NC bugs are relentless, so if you have any pesticide-free gardening tips, please feel free to share!”
Amelia’s mix of compassion, technical skill, and excitement for innovation makes her a wonderful addition to our team. We’re grateful to have her on board and can’t wait for our patients to experience her care firsthand.
